I-Cloud finds lost I-Phone in Terminal 5

When about to leave the UK, there are few things more frustrating than losing your mobile phone at the airport.

You can remember using it before check-in, but haven't seen it since. After the hassles of emptying your laptop and taking your belt off in security, you really want to sit and have a coffee - that is when you find the mobile has gone and panic starts ......

This almost happened to me today. Having sat down in Terminal 5, I went to check e-mails on my i-phone to find it had gone .....

The BA service desk tried to phone it - and no-one answered.

I ran back to security - and no-one had seen it.

Remembering the i-cloud, I switched on my laptop and used the "Find My I-Phone" icon:

I-cloud screen locating lost i-phone at security gates in Terminal 5, Heathrow
Phone had fallen beneath machine - but "Play Sound" alerted staff who found it
Amazingly, the i-cloud showed the position of the i-phone. Checking with staff in Terminal 5, it looked like it should be in the security area ... even though they hadn't found it.

Then a second feature of the i-cloud saved the day. Clicking on the "Play Sound" icon over and over again, a member of security staff heard it and found the i-phone where it had fallen from the x-ray belt, under the machinery.

Having left information as to where I was sitting in the Terminal, the BAA staff put out a message for me and I was re-united with my i-phone .....

Having spent a fraught 30 minutes running around the Terminal before I thought of using the i-cloud, planning how to cancel the phone and how to claim on insurance, I realise the immense value of the i-cloud locator.

Even more, even if the locator had shown that the i-phone had been taken and was heading away down the M25, the i-cloud would have let me erase it remotely.

To say I am an Apple convert is an understatement :-)

Chris Evans' varicose veins on Jeremy Vine - Radio 2

Today on Radio 2, Jeremy Vine talked about Varicose Veins.

Chris Evans, disc jockey, has been talking about his varicose veins now for a couple of years, and the picture below was posted on Facebook saying they were his:

Picture from Facebook posted as Chris Evans' varicose veins
We have contacted Chris's team several times explaining the new local anaesthetic procedures and the excellent results that we have now shown from The Whiteley Protocol.

Looking at the picture above, he does have a risk of superficial thrombophlebitis, which will be painful and will make the treatment harder - and is more likely to leave brown stains in the future.

His best way forwards is to have a venous duplex scan in the near future and then have endovenous treatment under local anaesthetic ... our approach and results can be seen next Monday on Embarrassing Bodies on Channel 4 9pm.

Chris's team has never got back to us - I hope he gets the best treatment before he gets thrombophlebitis.

25th Feb - Embarrassing Bodies featuring Whiteley Clinic

Embarrassing Bodies - Monday 25th February, Channel 4 at 9 pm.

A patient with complex recurrent varicose veins after previous failed "stripping" surgery and with vaginal and vulval varicose veins, was followed thorough her treatment at The Whiteley Clinic by Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies.
Donna with the Whiteley Clinic team who treated her for Embarrassing Bodies
- Complex Recurrent Varicose Veins and Vaginal Varicose Veins
Donna came to The Whiteley Clinic having had recurrent varicose veins following traditional surgery under general anaesthetic elsewhere.

The experts at The Whiteley Clinic found the underlying cause of her recurrent varicose veins and vaginal varicose veins, using the specialised Duplex Ultrasound scanner and transvaginal scanning.

She was treated by The Whiteley Protocol - Firstly by pelvic vein embolisation by Dr Tony Lopez at The Imaging Clinic - and then using endovenous laser, TRLOP, phlebectomy and foam sclerotherapy all in stages under local anaesthetic at The Whiteley Clinic.

Follow Donna's story and see the amazing transformation on Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies on 25th February at 9pm.

How much does varicose veins or leg ulcer surgery cost?

One of the commonest questions we are asked is about the cost of varicose vein surgery or leg ulcer surgery.

Very frequently, we are asked specific questions such as how much EVLA (endovenous laser ablation), or RFA (radiofrequency ablation) or Venaseal "superglue" for veins is.

However everyone is different and, before a venous duplex ultrasound scan is performed, it is impossible to know exactly which technique is the best for that patients veins. Hence the cost of the treatment depends on what needs to be done and by what technique.

In this video, Mark Whiteley explains the prices of the venous surgery techniques.

Does endovenous surgery for varicose veins or leg ulcers hurt?

Such treatments include EVLA (endovenous laser ablation), RFA (Radiofrequency Ablation), TRLOP, Foam Sclerotherapy, Ambulatory Phlebectomy and coil embolisation - as well as the new Venaseal and Clarivein techniques.

Red Magazine featuring Mark Whiteley and Venaseal Glue

In the March 2013 edition of Red Magazine (available now in newsagents) there is a feature on Mark Whiteley and Venaseal "superglue" for the treatment of varicose veins.

Mark Whiteley and Venaseal Superglue for Varicose Veins
featured in Red Magazine March 2013
In an article entitled "Sort out your leg veins" on page 247, the article explains the new superglue alternative to endovenous laser or radiofrequency ablation of varicose veins.

Although more expensive than these other techniques, it involves far few local anaesthetic injections and is therefore proving popular with people who dislike needles and injections.
